I can't believe it's been 2 weeks already since Ben was born. He is such a joy in our life! Here is a little synopsis about what has happened the last 2 weeks:
Dec 25th
My water broke at 5 am. Jerry finished gathering the rest of the stuff needed for the hospital and we were on the road by 5:30. There was some excitement on the way to the hospital as we hit a patch of black ice when changing lanes. The truck starting going sideways down the freeway and towards the ditch. We hit the ditch the truck's tires gripped and turned us back in the correct direction. We ended up the on the oncoming freeways on ramp! It was quite the experience. Thank goodness Jerry was stayed calm and knew the best wa
y to try and get us out. God was definitely watching over us that day.
We got to the maternity ward around 6 when I was admitted. I started having contractions for about 1 minute and 1 minute apart about an hour later. That is when I got the beloved epidermal! Around 10:20 the Dr. came in and told the nurse it was time to start pushing. At 1:23 Baby Benjamin was born! Ben weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz and was 22" long.
Daddy was able to hold Ben for almost an hour while they finished up with me.
Our family was waiting for us and was able to come in and see him! It was such a joyous occasion. One we will never forget.
Dec 27th
We left the hospital. Ben weighed in at 7 lb 3 oz. During the hospital we had lots of visitors! Thanks to everyone who came and visited. The Woodwinds hospital staff were all amazing and made the experience even better.
We have been blessed with a very happy and easy baby (so far - knock on wood). He is our little snuggle bug and loves to just curl into you and sleep. He has a very strong neck and likes to look at lights and everything else around him. He likes baths as long as he can be half emerged. I think we'll have a water rat in our hands!
