Instead of having Ben sit in a garbage can and watch, Jerry decided to put Ben to work. His first task - typing emails! Gotta start learning the family business sometime!

Lying Down? No Thank You!
We don't enjoying laying down these days, but sitting up...now that is something that makes us happy!

One Month Old and Baptism
On Sunday, Ben was baptized. It was a wonderful day and he did really well. He didn't cry through the entire service (even when the water was getting poured on his head!) Thank you to Rob & Audrey for driving up for the short weekend trip! Ben is blessed to have you supporting him spiritually as his Godparents.

Smile or Gas?
The big debate....is it a smile or gas? We think it's a smile! If you rub his cheek you can get Ben to smile. I also read on a baby website if they open their mouth, they consider that a happy smile!

Dr. Appointments
Dr Appointment #1:
Date: December 31st, 2009
Weight: 7 lbs 6 oz
Everything went really well. The doctor is wonderful and really takes the time to talk to us about any concerns we have. I like that he tells it to you straight! Ben doesn't like to be cold, so he wasn't thrilled to get weighed. When we got him back into the room to put his clothes on, he decided to pee all over mom. Yup, a HUGE spot on my sweatshirt that went straight through to my T-shirt.
Dr. Appointment #2
Date: January 11th, 2010
Weight: 7 lbs 2 oz
Everything went really well again. This time mom did not get peed on! The doctor isn't too concerned yet about his weight loss, although we do need to go back in 2 weeks for another check to make sure he starts gaining weight.
We are starting to get better at sleeping at night. For the past few nights he was slept almost 5 hours at a time. We absolutely love that!
Here are some more pics from this last week:

Can you believe it's been 2 weeks!
I can't believe it's been 2 weeks already since Ben was born. He is such a joy in our life! Here is a little synopsis about what has happened the last 2 weeks:
Dec 25th
My water broke at 5 am. Jerry finished gathering the rest of the stuff needed for the hospital and we were on the road by 5:30. There was some excitement on the way to the hospital as we hit a patch of black ice when changing lanes. The truck starting going sideways down the freeway and towards the ditch. We hit the ditch the truck's tires gripped and turned us back in the correct direction. We ended up the on the oncoming freeways on ramp! It was quite the experience. Thank goodness Jerry was stayed calm and knew the best wa
y to try and get us out. God was definitely watching over us that day.
We got to the maternity ward around 6 when I was admitted. I started having contractions for about 1 minute and 1 minute apart about an hour later. That is when I got the beloved epidermal! Around 10:20 the Dr. came in and told the nurse it was time to start pushing. At 1:23 Baby Benjamin was born! Ben weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz and was 22" long.
Daddy was able to hold Ben for almost an hour while they finished up with me.
Our family was waiting for us and was able to come in and see him! It was such a joyous occasion. One we will never forget.
Dec 27th
We left the hospital. Ben weighed in at 7 lb 3 oz. During the hospital we had lots of visitors! Thanks to everyone who came and visited. The Woodwinds hospital staff were all amazing and made the experience even better.
We have been blessed with a very happy and easy baby (so far - knock on wood). He is our little snuggle bug and loves to just curl into you and sleep. He has a very strong neck and likes to look at lights and everything else around him. He likes baths as long as he can be half emerged. I think we'll have a water rat in our hands!
